Newcomer Oliver Downes carded a net 71 to win the second round of Tour #3 of the National Top Flight Golf League (NTFGL) at Lusignan Golf Club on Sunday.

Downes, playing in his first league round, also recorded a net 32 on the back nine to take top honours and earn 10 points in the tournament, sponsored by Promotech and Genuine Auto Spares and Tools.

Another newcomer, George Bulkan, finished with a net 72 but had to go through two tiebreakers. He first lost the front-nine tiebreaker to Joseph Szeplaki, who posted a net 35 and earned two points.

Bulkan later faced Mike Mangal in a tiebreaker for second place after both players finished on a net 72. Mangal prevailed to take second and five points, while Bulkan finished third and earned three points.

Patrick Prashad and Ian Gouveia both carded net 74, with Prashad taking fourth place after posting a net 35 on the back nine. He earned two points, while Gouveia collected one.

Following the round, Downes leads the Tour #3 standings with 10 points, while Chet Bowling and Mangal have eight each. Videsh Persaud is on five points.
The tournament continues on October 4, with the next round at Lusignan Golf Club.

The course was reported to be in good condition for Sunday's round, with the ground crew, led by Brian Hackett, receiving recognition for maintaining the playing surface.
