Assistant Superintendent Travis Cush, who joined the Guyana Police Force as a constable 16 years ago, was admitted to the Guyana Bar on Tuesday.
Cush, Administrative Officer of the Tactical Services Unit, was admitted before Chief Justice Navindra Singh.
Attorney-at-law Selwyn Pieters presented the petition, assisted by Attorney-at-law Geeta Chandra Edmond and Superintendent Delon Fraser.
Cush was enlisted as a constable on May 17, 2010, and rose through the ranks to Assistant Superintendent.
He earned a Certificate in Industrial Relations and Management from the University of Guyana in 2014, a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Public Management in 2018 and a Bachelor of Laws in 2024. He also received a Certificate in Advocacy and Evidence for Summary Court Prosecutors in 2024.
He completed his legal training at the Eugene Dupuch Law School in The Bahamas, receiving the Legal Education Certificate on September 4. While there, he represented the school at the Margaret Forte Inter-Law Schools Mock Trial Competition in Trinidad and Tobago and was praised for his advocacy skills.
At the 2026 graduates' presentation ceremony, Cush received the Council of Legal Education Prize for Most Outstanding Student in the Legal Aid Clinic. He also received the Callenders & Co. Save the Bays Environmental Law Clinic Prize for the most active and contributing student of the Environmental Law Clinic.
Cush is a third-generation police officer. His grandfather was a Quartermaster Superintendent, and his late father, Selwyn Cush, served in the Force and as a peacekeeper in Namibia.
The Force said his mother, wife and five children supported him through his studies.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindradat Budhram, other senior and junior officers, the Director of Public Prosecutions, members of the legal fraternity, family and friends attended the ceremony.
