The Golden Generation Hub is continuing to support Guyana’s elderly by creating more opportunities for seniors to remain active, socially connected and engaged in their communities.
The initiative came alive at the Palms Geriatric Home on Saturday, where residents enjoyed a friendly mix of dominoes, card games and plenty of laughter.
Launched by the Palms administration in partnership with Wells Alliance Guyana, the Hub provides residents with activities designed to promote social interaction and overall wellbeing, including games, massages, yoga and volunteering opportunities.
Minister of Human Services and Social Security Vindhya Persaud joined the residents during Saturday’s activities, chatting with them and taking part in the lively atmosphere as they competed over dominoes and card games.
The Minister emphasised that caring for senior citizens extends beyond meeting their basic needs, noting that their happiness, social wellbeing and overall quality of life are equally important.
The Golden Generation Hub forms part of efforts to ensure that older persons have meaningful opportunities to remain active, connected and valued, while fostering an environment that supports their physical, emotional and social wellbeing.
