Police are searching for a 31-year-old miner who is wanted in connection with the suspected murder of 29-year-old Shawn Abrams of Charity, Essequibo Coast.
The incident occurred at about 12:45 a.m. at 14 Miles, Issano, Middle Mazaruni River on Saturday.
According to investigators, Abrams, three friends and the suspect, who hails from Canje, Berbice ,were consuming alcohol at a bar when an argument between the two men escalated.
One of the men reportedly intervened and separated them. During the incident, he observed what appeared to be bloodstains on Abrams’ vest.
Police say the suspect then fled the area, while Abrams walked a short distance from the shop before collapsing.
Detectives subsequently visited and processed the scene where Abrams’ motionless body was discovered.
They also canvassed the area for CCTV footage and potential witnesses. However, no surveillance cameras were located, but statements were obtained from persons assisting with the investigation.
Police say they have since conducted checks at several camps in the 14 Miles Backdam area in an effort to locate the suspect, but he remains at large.
They say efforts are continuing to locate suspect as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding Abrams’ death.
