A mother is calling for justice after a motorcycle crash along the Corentyne Public Road on Sunday claimed the life of her 31-year-old son, Haresh Gopilall.
Domatie Surujall said she is devastated by her son’s sudden death, describing him as “obedient and hardworking” and “someone who would readily help whenever asked.” Recounting their final interaction, she said,
“He told me he would return shortly and asked me to prepare his meal.” She said she later received a call informing her he had been taken to hospital before collapsing upon hearing of his death. “I need justice for my son,” she added.
According to family members, Gopilall was riding his motorcycle when the collision occurred. His passenger, Yedesh Singh, was injured but is in stable condition.
Gopilall’s father, Ragasammy Gopilall, said he heard the motorcycle shortly before learning of the crash and rushed to the scene, where he later learned his son had died.
He suggested the collision may have involved a truck turning and said his son suffered severe injuries, including trauma to the head, chest and limbs.
An investigation is underway.
