A delayed fuel shipment from a major oil company has arrived and is currently being discharged, easing concerns over a temporary disruption in supply, Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips says.
The government says it is aware of reports of public anxiety surrounding fuel availability and has engaged fuel importers to assess the situation.
According to Phillips, the disruption stemmed from a delay affecting one supplier, but importers have since indicated that the situation is expected to stabilise quickly.
He says additional consignments have already been received and more shipments are scheduled for Tuesday and later in the week, with authorities maintaining oversight of supply levels.
Phillips urges the public to avoid panic buying and hoarding, emphasising that adequate fuel supplies are entering the system and the issue is being resolved.
He also cautions consumers against unsafe fuel storage practices, noting that petroleum products are highly flammable and must be handled with care. Improper storage, particularly in unsuitable containers, can pose serious fire risks and increase the likelihood of injury, loss of life and property damage.
The Government says it will continue to monitor developments closely and take all necessary measures to ensure stable and reliable access to fuel nationwide.
