After the agony of scoring 405 and still losing their previous match, the Caribbean side turned the tables on India on Saturday, chasing down 352 to win the third and final one-day international by five wickets.

Captain Shai Hope lived up to his name, producing a sensational unbeaten 162 to lead the West Indies home in 48.2 overs in New Chandigarh.

Amir Jangoo added 67, while Guyanese all-rounder Keemo Paul chipped in with 44 as the West Indies completed the chase with ten balls to spare.

It was exactly the response the Caribbean side needed after India chased down their 405 for seven in the second ODI to win by eight wickets.

This time, the West Indies were the ones celebrating a massive run chase.

India had earlier posted 351 for seven after a shaky start. Shubman Gill fell for one and Virat Kohli was dismissed without scoring, leaving the hosts in need of a recovery.

Rohit Sharma provided it, making 92 and sharing a 137-run partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored 57.

KL Rahul then took India past 350, smashing an unbeaten 129 from 87 balls, his ninth ODI century and his highest score in the format.

It looked like another daunting target.

But Hope had other plans.

His 162 anchored the chase and ensured India's big total would not be enough this time.

India still take the series 2–1, but the West Indies avoided a clean sweep in emphatic fashion.
