Greece and Guyana signed an Air Services Agreement on Wednesday that facilitates airline access to both markets, aimed at promoting competitive air transport, trade and economic development.

Public Utilities and Aviation Minister Deodat Indar and Greek Ambassador Theodore N. Tsakiris signed the agreement at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, on the sidelines of the joint International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) 3rd Global Regional Safety Oversight Organisations (RSOO) and Regional Accidents and Incidents Investigation Organisation (RAIO) Forum for Aviation Safety.

No direct flights currently link the two countries.

The agreement covers rights, designations and authorisations, applicable laws and regulations, commercial opportunities, tariffs, recognition of certificates and licences, aviation safety and security, and user charges, among other areas.

Technical negotiations concluded and the agreement was initialled on December 3, 2019, in Aqaba, Jordan. The two countries established diplomatic relations on May 14, 1979.
