Guyanese cricketers and coaches are set to benefit from a new partnership between the Culture, Youth and Sport Ministry and Pakistan Super League (PSL) side Lahore Qalandars.

The Ministry said it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the franchise, which has won three PSL titles, in 2022, 2023 and 2025.

Lahore Qalandars Owner and Team Director Sameen Rana signed the agreement with Culture, Youth and Sport Minister Charles Ramson and Minister within the Ministry Steven Jacobs.

The MoU sets out a framework for cooperation in high-performance cricket, athlete and coach development, technical exchange and international collaboration.

The Guyana Cricket Board will serve as the ministry's principal technical partner, providing expertise and support in developing and implementing cricket programmes.

The ministry said the collaboration will offer player and coach exchanges, high-performance training, coaching education, talent identification and the sharing of technical knowledge. It also provides for joint cricket camps, coaching clinics, youth development programmes, women's cricket initiatives and other activities to strengthen the sport at all levels.

A key focus will be the exchange of technical expertise and international best practices, which the ministry said will strengthen Guyana's capacity to develop and sustain high-performance cricket pathways. Athletes and coaches will also gain greater exposure to international standards and methods.

The ministry said it continues to pursue strategic international partnerships that advance talent development for Guyanese athletes and coaches, strengthen the country's sporting systems and improve its international competitiveness.
