Three farmers are dead following an alleged altercation at Aranka Village, Baramita, North West District, on Saturday.
Dead are Joy John, 40; her husband, Amar Thomas, 38; and Tony Williams, 62.

Police said the incident occurred around 9:30am. Preliminary investigations revealed that John and Thomas lived at a camp in the area with their five-year-old son, while Williams resided at another camp about 20 miles away.

It is alleged that Williams went to John and Thomas' camp, where an argument ensued between him and John, during which he allegedly chopped her to the neck with a cutlass. Thomas, who was reportedly returning from his farm, then confronted Williams, and the two men allegedly inflicted injuries on each other with sharp objects.

John was found motionless at the camp, Thomas about 50 feet away, and Williams about 100 feet from the camp along a track.

Police ranks visited the scene on Sunday and examined the bodies. John had a wound to her neck, Thomas a stab wound to his left groin area, and Williams a stab wound to the left side of his chest.

The bodies were taken to the Baramita Cottage Hospital, where a doctor on duty pronounced them dead on arrival, before being placed in the mortuary to await post-mortem examinations.
