Captains of the Jamaica Kingsmen and the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, Rovman Powell and Moeen Ali are expecting a closely contested Caribbean Premier League (CPL) final when the two sides square off for the regional cricket title this evening.

Both captains acknowledged the quality of their opponents during the pre-game press conference, with Ali describing Jamaica as “probably the most dangerous side in the competition”.

Ali said the Falcons have steadily improved throughout the tournament, with confidence growing as results came their way.

“It's just results and then the belief just kept growing within the players,” Ali said, highlighting the Falcons’ bowling attack and the contribution of their wrist-spinners and death bowlers.

Powell, meanwhile, said the Kings had set clear objectives before the competition and have now reached the final with the opportunity to complete the final step.

“When we sat down as a group before the start of the competition, we outlined three goals,” Powell explained: reaching the playoffs, progressing to the final, and then “to see if we can cross the line”.

The Jamaica captain believes his side has the necessary balance, particularly with a bowling attack capable of taking wickets and containing opposition batting line-ups.

“As a batting group, I think we have capable match winners,” Powell said.

The final also brings back memories of the teams’ opening encounter, which was decided on the last ball. Powell said the match could once again go neck and neck.

“I think it’s two evenly matched teams,” he said. “It will go down to the wire again”.

Ali also praised the tournament’s crowds, saying the support across the Caribbean has been “amazing”.

With both captains emphasizing confidence, composure and execution, the stage is set for a final featuring two sides that believe they have the players and plans to lift the CPL trophy.

The 2026 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) final takes place at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados starting at 7:00 p.m.
