
A 53-year-old motorcyclist from Number 76 Village, Corentyne, died on Friday evening after a head-on collision along the Number 75 Village Public Road, in front of the Number 75 Regional Hospital.
The deceased was identified as Roshan Alli.
According to preliminary information, Alli was riding home after visiting his mother at Number 65 Village when he was struck by a motorcar. The car was reportedly travelling at a high rate of speed when its driver lost control and veered into the lane of the oncoming motorcyclist.
The collision left Alli seriously injured. He was taken to the Number 75 Regional Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention.
Alli’s 52-year-old wife, Nazima Alli, told Ignite News that she is seeking justice for her husband, with whom she shared three children.
“I need justice for my husband, because he don’t deserve that. My husband ain’t deserves that.”
Nazima described Alli as a quiet, hardworking and devoted family man who did not trouble anyone. She said he was the family’s sole breadwinner and worked hard to support their household.
“Me and my husband live very nice. 33 years, me and he live. Me never left he and go away, never.”
“He is the breadwinner. He alone working and do everything.”
She said the family is now facing uncertainty following his death.
Alli’s 78-year-old mother, Bissoondei Hariprasad, recalled seeing her son earlier on Friday when he visited her at her Number 65 Village home because she was unwell.
“Friday my son, me wasn’t feeling good. My son he come and see me, and he see me, and he talk and so and he left to come home.”
Hariprasad said she later learnt that her son had been involved in the collision and was told that the motorcar had crossed into his lane before striking him.
She described Alli as a devoted son who was always willing to help her and visit when she was ill.
“My son was a very good son to me, and every time if me had anything for do, my son would come and do it for me. And when me sick, my son come and see me.”
The circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation.
