Guyana is moving to strengthen its local capacity to service electric and hybrid vehicles, with the Guyana Energy Agency launching specialized training for electrical and mechanical technicians.
The programme will cover Level 3 and Level 4 training in electric and hybrid vehicle maintenance and repairs, as the country’s electric vehicle sector continues to develop.
The training will combine classroom learning with practical workshop activities.
Participants will be trained in electric and hybrid vehicle systems, electrical safety and safe isolation procedures, as well as EV technology, drivetrain architecture and high-voltage battery removal and refitting.
The programme will also cover diagnostics and recovery procedures, with participants gaining hands-on workshop experience.
Upon successful completion and final assessments, participants will receive an internationally recognized certificate from the Institute of the Motor Industry.
Level 3 training is scheduled for September 14 to 18 at the Mahaicony Technical and Vocational Training Centre.
Level 4 training will follow from September 21 to 25 at the same facility.
The training is being offered free of cost to practicing auto electricians and mechanical technicians.
Applicants are required to submit an updated CV, two character references, relevant technical certificates and national identification.
Applications close at 9 AM on August 31, with limited spaces available and priority being given to submissions received first.
