Four Guyanese teams will represent the Golden Arrowhead at round four of the GT Challenge series in Barbados on August 29 and 30.
Leading the Guyanese contingent will be the recently acquired Mercedes-AMG, sponsored by Peter Lewis Construction and driven by Will Redford. The car dominated round three at the South Dakota Circuit and will look to continue that form in Barbados.
The Jumbo Jet Auto Sales, VAL’s Construction and Rohit Lumber Yard-sponsored Lamborghini will also make the trip, with Jamaican driver Tomi Gore at the wheel.
The third Guyanese entry will be the Mohamed’s Excavating Porsche, driven by Mark Vieira.
Completing the four-car contingent is the BM Soat/Prem’s Electrical-sponsored KTM X-Bow, piloted by Rameez Mohamed.
A Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) spokesman wished all four teams well ahead of the event.
“We wish all four of the teams well on their bid to represent the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club and Guyana,” the spokesman said.
He also highlighted the GMR&SC’s role in developing the GT Challenge series and its plans to expand Guyana’s international motorsport presence.
“We are glad to be the forerunners in hosting the GT Challenge series here in the Caribbean. GMR&SC is keen on developing our motorsport product to host more international racing series and events and promote Destination Guyana as a sport tourism product and as the premier motorsport destination across the region,” he said.
