A 15-year-old student was on Monday released into the care and custody of his parents after being charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of 55-year-old Asmat Mohamed Hussain, a fisherman at Dukestown, Corriverton.
The teen appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Ms Mattias, where the indictable charge was read to him.
Solomon, of No. 77 Housing Scheme, Corriverton, was arrested on August 12 and charged on August 17 under Section 94 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
Following the court appearance, Solomon was released into the care and custody of his parents, Sherry and Hilton Solomon.
As part of his release conditions, the teenager was ordered to report to the Springlands Police Station on the last Friday of every month.
He was also ordered not to leave the jurisdiction until the completion of the matter.
The case has been adjourned to September 17, 2026.
The charge stems from an incident on August 12 at Dukestown, Corriverton, which resulted in the death of the 55-year-old fisherman.
