Dwayne Bravo and Ian Bishop have been named the inaugural inductees into the newly established Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Hall of Fame, the Republic Bank CPL said on Monday.
Bravo becomes the first player inducted, while Bishop is recognised in the non-player category for his contribution to the tournament’s success since its launch in 2013, CPL said.
The pair will be formally honoured at the inaugural Hall of Fame Gala Dinner at The Hilton Hotel in Barbados on September 15, an evening CPL said will draw together some of the biggest names in West Indies cricket. Proceeds from the event will go to The Sir Clive Lloyd Healthcare Foundation, which works to raise awareness and improve testing for prostate cancer across the Caribbean.
According to CPL, Trinidadian all-rounder Bravo won more than 15 T20 titles over an 18-year career, including two ICC Men’s T20 World Cups with West Indies, in 2012 and 2016, along with Indian Premier League honours with Chennai Super Kings and further titles in the Big Bash League and Pakistan Super League. He was the first bowler to reach 500 T20 wickets and remains CPL’s third-highest wicket-taker with 129. He won five CPL titles as a player, four with Trinbago Knight Riders and one with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, before adding a sixth as head coach when Trinbago Knight Riders lifted the trophy in 2025.
Bishop, CPL said, has long been considered the voice of Caribbean cricket, with commentary that helped shape the tournament’s identity over more than a decade. His call of Carlos Brathwaite’s four consecutive sixes at the 2016 ICC World T20 remains among the sport’s most recognised moments.
CPL Chief Executive Officer Pete Russell said Bravo and Bishop had both been central to the tournament’s story since its first season, adding that it was fitting to honour them ahead of this year’s final.
CPL said the Hall of Fame will run as an annual fixture, with future inductees announced ahead of each tournament.
