Andre Boyce has been crowned the 2026 National 8-Ball Champion following four days of intense competition, the Cue Sports Association Guyana (CSAG) and Mobile Money Guyana (MMG) announced.
The tournament ran from July 4 to 12 and brought together 70 players from across Guyana, including Georgetown, East Bank, West Bank, West Coast, Berbice, Linden, East Coast and Essequibo, making it one of the most geographically diverse and competitive tournaments in the association’s history.
Boyce was the standout performer of the week, with a clinical run through the final rounds securing him the national title.
Jerry Josie placed second after a series of dominant performances through the knockout stages, while Mario Albert and Ritick Persaud shared third. Jameel De Agrella, Anthony Xavier, Parsram Sobhai and McQuain Smith rounded out the top finishers with fourth-place honours.
CSAG President Steven Persaud said the standard of play this year had been extraordinary, adding that 70 players from across the regions competing together showed cue sports were thriving in Guyana. He congratulated Boyce and the other top performers.
MMG Chief Executive Officer Mark Singh said the company was proud to support a championship that celebrated sporting excellence while bringing together players from across Guyana, adding that the event reflected the discipline and competitive spirit of the nation’s athletes.
CSAG thanked title sponsor MMG, which invested $250,000 in this year’s championship, along with supporting sponsors D&L Sports Bar, Suraj Sports Bar, Sunil & Son Pool Bar and Boat House Sports Bar. The association also thanked its members, fans and participants for their support of the event.
The CSAG & MMG National 8-Ball Championship remains one of the premier cue sports events in Guyana, offering local athletes a national platform while contributing to the sport’s continued growth.
