Coordinator of the East Bank Inter-Village Football Tournament, Franklin Wilson, said fans can expect an entertaining night of football tonight when the semifinals are played at the Eccles Community Ground.
Following Tuesday’s quarterfinals, Herstelling booked a semifinal clash with Kuru Kururu in the opening match, while Grove will face Agricola in the feature encounter of the evening.
Wilson said expectations were high for both matches, which are scheduled to kick off from 1800 local time.
He identified the Grove-Agricola contest as the marquee fixture, saying supporters should not miss the unbeaten sides facing off for a place in Sunday’s final.
According to Wilson, the match will feature several of the tournament’s standout players, including the competition’s leading scorer and the influential Padmore brothers.
“This game has all the ingredients for a classic battle,” Wilson said, adding that one of the tournament’s strongest teams would see its campaign end.
Wilson also praised the four semifinalists, saying each earned its place through consistent performances during the competition.
The night’s action will begin with Kuru Kururu taking on Herstelling before Grove and Agricola battle for the second spot in the championship match.
