Appeal overturns penalty, Ming declared winner in Kart Revival final

Calvin Ming

The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) has reinstated competitor Calvin Ming as the winner of the Briggs and Stratton Light class final at the MPS Kart Revival event following a successful appeal.

The event was held last Sunday at the club’s Thomas Lands facility in Georgetown.

Ming’s kart had initially been deemed in violation of a technical rule relating to clearance tolerances, triggering a penalty despite crossing the line first. However, after further investigation, officials determined that the issue resulted from circumstances beyond the control of the competitor and the technical team.

As a result, Ming has been restored to first place, with the revised finishing order confirming him as the winner ahead of Steven Nobrega in second and Jared Ramnarayan in third. The GMR&SC said competitors are entitled to appeal decisions, whether technical or otherwise.
