Probe launched into death of prisoner at Cove and John Police Station

The Ministry of Home Affairs has launched a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the death of a prisoner at the Cove and John Police Station and is working closely with the Guyana Police Force to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The ministry assured the public, particularly the affected family, that the investigation will be conducted with the highest standards of professionalism, impartiality, and accountability.

It also urged members of the public to allow the investigative process to proceed without interference, appealing for calm, restraint, and respect for the rule of law as the facts are examined.

The ministry extended condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased prisoner and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring due process and that all necessary actions are taken in accordance with the law.
