The President of the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG), Amanda Hermonstine, has praised the government for its support of track and field following the opening of the Bayroc Synthetic Facility in Linden.

“I would like to extend sincere thanks to the Government of Guyana, the Minister of Sports, and the National Sports Commission for their vision and commitment to advancing athletics,” Hermonstine said.

She described the new facility as a significant step in developing athletics nationwide. “The investment clearly demonstrates that track and field is being taken to the next level. Facilities are planned not only in Leonora but also in Berbice and Georgetown. This lays the foundation for a stronger, more inclusive athletics future, where talent can rise from every corner of the country,” she added.

Hermonstine emphasized the facility’s impact on athletes in Linden and the wider region. “For me, this facility represents far more than infrastructure; it is an investment in people, potential, and possibilities. It provides athletes with a world-class space to train, compete, and grow right at home,” she said.
The AAG’s season will continue this weekend with another visit to the Bayroc facility.
