Acting Chief Justice Navindra Singh has postponed his ruling to February 9 in the case involving US-indicted businessmen Nazar Mohamed and his son, Azruddin Mohamed, who are challenging a decision allowing their extradition to the United States.
The ruling was originally set for February 2, with no reason given for the delay.
The case combines a constitutional challenge and a judicial review of the extradition process. The Mohameds’ attorneys argue the process was politically biased and that the Home Affairs Minister had a conflict of interest.
The State has rejected these claims, maintaining the decision was administrative and lawful. The men face 11 criminal charges in the United States and remain on bail as proceedings continue.
