Justice George-Wiltshire remains acting Chancellor; Justice Singh continues as acting Chief Justice

Justice Roxanne George-Wiltshire will continue to serve as the acting Chancellor of the Judiciary, while Justice Navindra Singh will retain his position as the acting Chief Justice.

President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali made the announcement during a live broadcast on Friday afternoon from State House, Georgetown.

According to President Ali, the appointments follow a request by Madam Justice Yonette Cummings-Edwards, CCH, OR, to proceed on pre-retirement leave beginning Monday, October 27, 2025, ahead of her early retirement.

“I take this opportunity to thank Madam Justice Cummings-Edwards for her long and distinguished service to the judiciary and the people of Guyana. I extend my personal appreciation for her many years of dedicated public service,” the President expressed.

Earlier today, Justice Singh was also sworn in as a member of the Judicial Service Commission.
