The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has announced the success of its “Step Into The Party” Challenge — a virtual fitness initiative encouraging fans across the Caribbean and beyond to move for wellness, unity, and fun.
According to CPL, fans collectively logged 179 million steps over the course of the campaign, equivalent to more than 80,000 miles walked, or enough to circle the globe more than three times.
Leading the way were supporters of the Guyana Amazon Warriors, who recorded an impressive 53 million steps. While the team narrowly missed out on the CPL trophy on the field, their fans emerged victorious in the step challenge.
The most dedicated participants will be rewarded with prizes from the league’s tourism partners, celebrating what CPL described as “the Caribbean spirit of movement, discovery, and togetherness.” Winners will be contacted directly to finalize prize details.
Launched earlier this season, the “Step Into The Party” Challenge invited fans to join a virtual fitness journey, competing both individually and collectively to log their steps throughout the 2025 CPL season.
“This challenge has always been about more than fitness,” said Pete Russell, Republic Bank CPL CEO. “It’s about uniting communities, celebrating our culture, and stepping forward together for a meaningful cause. Health and wellness remain central to the CPL, and seeing our fans embrace this journey with such passion has been truly inspiring. Encouraging sustainable, accessible ways for everyone to stay active is at the heart of our Health and Wellness initiative, and this challenge has shown how powerful that message can be when we take it on together.”
Russell extended thanks to all participants, partners, and supporters who made the initiative a success, saying, “Together, we proved that when Caribbean fans step up, we step forward as one community.”
The Republic Bank CPL, first staged in 2013, is a franchise-based T20 cricket tournament known for combining world-class cricket with the vibrant carnival atmosphere of the Caribbean. The 2025 season ran from August 14 to September 21, featuring six franchise teams across the region.
