The Board of Industrial Training (BIT), in partnership with the Beterverwagting Practical Instruction Centre (BV PIC), celebrated the achievements of 91 trainees during a certificate distribution ceremony at the Buxton Tipperary Hall on Friday, October 10, 2025.
Graduates included participants from the Guyana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (Life Hope Center), who completed the Commercial Food Preparation programme, and trainees from BV PIC who completed courses in Commercial Food Preparation, Agro-processing, Furniture Making, and Information Technology.
Among those present were BIT Chief Executive Officer Richard Maughn; Director of Family Life Ministries, Men’s Ministries, and Public Affairs and Religious Liberty, Pastor Oliver Moore; Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Officer Marcel Watson; Technical Officer Quinola Legall; Headmistress of BV PIC, Celeste Cummings; Head of Department of BV PIC, Alana Fingall; and other distinguished guests.
In his remarks, CEO Richard Maughn encouraged graduates to make full use of the knowledge and skills they acquired, noting that the true value of their achievement lies in how they apply what they have learned. He highlighted that the graduates’ success reflects broader government investment in the people of Guyana. Over the past five years, BIT training programmes have benefited more than 15,000 individuals nationwide.
Mr. Maughn further explained that Region Four has been a significant beneficiary of these efforts, with 4,571 individuals trained across the region. On the East Coast corridor specifically, 943 persons have received training, including the 91 graduates celebrated at this ceremony. He emphasized that these graduates are not just statistics but stories of success—individuals who pushed beyond their limits to gain skills that support Guyana’s rapid development.
Technical Officer Quinola Legall commended the trainees for their dedication and perseverance, while Pastor Moore congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to use their skills positively.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates, tokens of outstanding performance, and tool kits to the successful trainees.
