The Bureau of Statistics has begun a household listing exercise across randomly selected areas in Guyana. The initiative aims to update key information about residents to guide national surveys, including the Labour Force and Household Budget Surveys.
Enumerators from the Bureau are visiting homes equipped with official identification badges and tablet computers to collect basic data on household members. Residents are urged to verify the identity of any enumerator by sending a WhatsApp message to 624-0710, including their region and the enumerator’s name.
The Bureau emphasized that “all data collected during the exercise is strictly confidential and will be used solely for statistical purposes.” Officials said this periodic exercise is part of the agency’s effort to ensure accurate, up-to-date information for policymaking and research.
The Bureau of Statistics is the official government agency responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating statistical information about the country. Established to support evidence-based policymaking, research, and development planning, the Bureau conducts national surveys, censuses, and data collection exercises across sectors including population, labor, health, and the economy. Its work ensures that government agencies, researchers, and the public have access to accurate and timely data, while strict confidentiality protocols protect the personal information of individuals and households involved.
