Queensway Security named Super50 title sponsor

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has officially unveiled Queensway Security Service as the title sponsor for this year’s Men’s Senior Inter-County Super50 Championships. The announcement was made on Thursday evening at the historic Herdmanston Lodge, with players, coaches, and GCB executives in attendance, including CWI Director Shaun Massish and former West Indies Test batsman Travis Dowlin.

Queensway CEO Mohamed Qualander expressed pride in sponsoring the championship, saying, “Cricket is an integral part of our country, our past, our present and I believe it is going to be a big part of our future and I am very happy to be part of this, I think is what is need to ensure we promote cricket going into the future.”

Former player Travis Dowlin announced his return to cricket duties as a manager and developmental coach, motivated by his children’s involvement in the sport.

GCB President Bissoondyal Singh highlighted the importance of the sponsorship, describing the tournament as “where stars are born” and a key platform for showcasing talent. He urged players to compete with heart and respect and encouraged fans to support their county teams.

The tournament will follow a round-robin format, culminating in finals, with games live-streamed by FL Sports. GCB Operations Manager Anthony D’Andrade noted the importance of hosting matches in rural areas, including Essequibo, to promote cricket development in line with President Irfan Ali’s initiative for indigenous communities. This season also introduces a bonus points system to add an extra challenge for teams.
