With the clock swiftly winding down towards the historic GT Challenge de Las Americas, Guyanese competitors are sharpening their teeth at the prospect of going wheel to wheel with the best in Latin America.
One such competitor is Rameez Mohamed.
No stranger to the local motorsport circle and a former Starlet Cup Champion, Mohamed will debut his KTM X-bow at the July 11 and 12 event.
According to Mohamed, “The car has been ready for some time but we were just fine tuning it to my specifications. We are not sure yet which of the classes of the GT Challenge the car will fit in but I can say for sure that we are going to be out there 100% representing Guyana.”
The Prem’s Electrical and BM Soat sponsored white KTM is a step up from his normal Honda Civic (GP2) and Toyota Starlet (GP3) and Mohamed accepts that challenge.
“Yes, it’s definitely an entirely different machine compared to the ones I’m used to in the Group Two Honda and previous Starlet that I handled but it presents a challenge that I am willing to take on.”
“The car (KTM) is still new to me in some cases and we are awaiting the completion of the works at the South Dakota Circuit before we can resume our testing. The car will do well in the series and we are going to go all out to ensure that we represent Guyana well.”
Mohamed, who also has in his stable the revered Renault Megane, revealed that he is also aiming to run that car in Group Four of the local segment. (GMRSC)
