Ministers conduct site visit to address Plaisance traffic congestion

Early this morning, Minister of Public Works Bishop Juan Edghill and Minister within the Ministry of Public Works Madanlall Ramraj visited the Railway Embankment at Plaisance to assess the growing traffic congestion along the busy corridor.

Minister within the Ministry of Housing Vanessa Benn also joined the inspection.

The officials met with representatives from the project contractor China Railway First Group Limited and consulting firm Beston to identify practical solutions to the traffic challenges.

Assistant Superintendent of Division 4, ‘C’ Traffic Officer Stephen Gobin, along with other members of the Guyana Police Force, were also present to provide operational insights.

During the inspection, which covered the stretch from Plaisance Line-Top to the Ogle Roundabout,
Minister Edghill emphasized the need for a revision of the construction methodology in tandem with enhanced traffic management measures, highlighting that the corridor remains a heavily congested construction zone.

The ministers urged all stakeholders to submit immediate, actionable plans to address the congestion, with implementation expected to commence tomorrow
