On Monday morning, Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Hon. Dr. Vindhya Persaud, held discussions with UN Resident Coordinator for Guyana, Jean Njeri Kamau, and UNFPA Sub-Regional Liaison Officer for the Caribbean, Alder Bynoe, at her East and Lamaha Streets office.
They were accompanied by Ms. Yuqiong Zhou, ROC Head of Office and Strategy Planner.
The Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Erica Forte, also attended the meeting.
Talks focused on reviewing ongoing UNFPA support to the Ministry and setting priorities for the remainder of the year. Discussions also addressed the UN Caribbean Multi-Country Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework and Guyana’s Country Implementation Plan.
Given the Ministry’s central role in promoting equality, well-being, peace, safety, justice, and the rule of law, the meeting underscored the importance of aligning strategies to maximise collective impact on Guyana’s national development goals.
