Thirty-three Inspectors of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) have successfully completed a two-week Senior Leadership Course at the GPF Academy, Georgetown campus.
The programme concluded on September 29, 2025.
The training was facilitated by lecturers from the University of Guyana and the Police Force, covering areas such as report writing, information technology, financial regulations and store management, emotional intelligence, identification parades, leadership, traffic management, disciplinary procedures, and medical services.
Delivering the feature address, Deputy Commissioner of Operations, Errol Watts, reminded the participants of their responsibilities as supervisors.
“It is important for you as inspectors to be aware of who you supervise, what you supervise, and how you need to supervise… You should be aware of your surroundings and take appropriate responsibility for what goes on at your stations,” he said.
He further urged the ranks to maintain professionalism in the execution of their duties.
Watts cautioned against “cherry-picking the law” and stressed the need to act in accordance with established regulations.
In closing, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated the inspectors on their achievement and encouraged them to put into practice the knowledge and skills gained during the training.
