The International Business Conference Guyana 2025 (IBC Guyana 2025) has received strong support from US Ambassador Nicole Theriot, who said the October event could transform regional economic development and bolster US-Caribbean partnerships.
In her remarks, Ambassador Theriot highlighted opportunities for American businesses in Guyana’s rapidly expanding economy. “Quite honestly, there are tremendous opportunities for US companies to explore partnerships and investment opportunities in a rapidly expanding economy. Whether it’s infrastructure, energy, ICT, education, agriculture or health, there are opportunities for US firms with proven track records to bring quality solutions, technology and expertise to us,” she said.
She emphasised the conference as a platform for building business relationships. “To connect, to collaborate and ease the opportunity that the 25 presents. It’s truly a conference. It’s a one stop shop. It’s a unique opportunity to force partnerships that will shape the future of regional trade and investment,” she noted.
The ambassador highlighted strong US interest across multiple sectors. “We all know that energy is currently the key driver of growth. It’s just the beginning. And sectors like infrastructure, agriculture and Agri business, ICT, healthcare, education and skills training, climate resilience technologies, all these things hold major potential collaboration,” she said, adding, “In fact, we are seeing great interest in US firms in aviation, logistics, manufacturing, mining, real uptick in mining and even franchising.”
The embassy’s support reflects America’s strategic partnership with the Caribbean. “The US Embassy is proud to support events like IBC because they are geared towards strengthening economic cooperation, encouraging responsible investment and reinforcing our shared goals of inclusive and sustainable growth,” she said.
She highlighted the value of long-term partnerships. “US companies bring not just very high standards and state-of-the-art innovation, but also they bring transparency, accountability and long term quality and value,” Ambassador Theriot said.
Offering advice to conference participants, she urged collaborative engagement. “I would encourage delegates to approach IDC with an open mind and a collaborative spirit. The relationships that you build here between governments, private sector and community leaders can truly be game changing. And as we like to say, when American businesses show up, we bring solutions and when they partner with counterparts, we all succeed.”
