G Mining Ventures Guyana Inc. on Saturday brought its career fair to New Amsterdam, Berbice, as part of efforts to fill an estimated 2,500 jobs linked to its expanding mining operations in Guyana.

The initiative forms part of the company’s broader national recruitment strategy as it advances development of its flagship project, the Oko West Gold Project, located in Region Seven. The Canadian-owned company, which owns and operates the project, is currently in its construction phase and expects this stage to conclude by the third quarter of 2027, after which it will transition into full mining operations.

Speaking with the media, Kobe Cort, Talent Acquisition Lead at G Mining Ventures Guyana Inc., said the career fair was strategically held in the region due to the strong presence of technical skills at institutions such as the New Amsterdam Technical Institute and the Port Mourant Technical Institute.

“The activity that we have here today is a career fair… being a mining company, we found that a lot of the skill sets we are looking for are located in this region, so we decided to do a job fair here,” Cort explained.

He noted that the company is preparing to significantly scale up its workforce as construction progresses.

“We are looking to ramp up to about 2,500 employees,” he said, adding that recruitment efforts will continue across various parts of Guyana over the coming months.

The company is currently seeking workers across multiple sectors, including construction, mining and hospitality. Among the roles being targeted are general labourers, electricians, carpenters, masons, heavy-duty equipment operators and truck drivers. Hospitality-related positions such as laundry attendants, housekeepers, cooks, kitchen helpers and camp attendants are also in demand.

Cort emphasised that many of these positions are immediately available.

“If persons can get all their documentation sorted, they can be employed with us as early as next month,” he said, noting that construction and hospitality roles are particularly urgent.

He also highlighted that formal certification is not always a requirement, as practical experience will be considered.

“If you have experience in construction… even if you have no certification, you can definitely come out. We will work with you and provide on-the-job training where necessary,” he added.

G Mining Ventures Guyana Inc. has also made several channels available for interested applicants, including its Facebook page, LinkedIn profile, and its corporate office located at Pegasus Corporate Suites, where the company operates on the fourth floor and maintains an open-door policy for walk-in enquiries and applications.

Cort further announced that the company will continue its outreach efforts, with the next stop scheduled at the University of Guyana Berbice Campus Open Day and Job Fair on Monday, for persons who were unable to attend the event in New Amsterdam.
