A 52-year-old fisherman was remanded to prison after pleading guilty to vandalising the tomb of a 13-year-old girl.
Parsram Tapsie, also known as “Radesh” or “Ranchie,” of Phase 3, Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, was arrested on Wednesday and charged on Thursday by ranks of the Cove and John Police Station.
Tapsie appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court around 11:00 hrs, where he was charged with Malicious Damage to Property, contrary to Section 160 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
He pleaded guilty to the charge, and the court ordered a probation report and psychiatric evaluation before sentencing.
Tapsie was remanded to prison, and the case was adjourned to March 17 for sentencing.
