Six Guyanese employees have been appointed to all Base Manager positions at Guyana Shore Base Inc. (GYSBI), marking the first time the company's base operations will be headed entirely by locals.
The appointments, announced yesterday include Rondell Wade and Rohit Gulchand as Senior Base Managers, while Michael Lambert, Nkosi Sandy, Aveledo Lindie and Marvin McLennon have been appointed Annex Base Managers.
Sandy's appointment also marks a milestone for women in the country's oil and gas support sector, as she becomes Guyana's first female Base Manager, according to the company.
The six employees have all advanced through GYSBI's ranks, moving from operational and technical positions into management after gaining experience across different areas of the business.
Their career progression includes advancement from positions such as banksman, driver and warehouse supervisor, with some also serving as logistics coordinators and base coordinators before assuming their new responsibilities.
GYSBI Chief Executive Officer Oliver Kassam said the appointments reflect the company's ability to develop leadership talent from within its workforce.
“These employees understand our operations because they have helped build them. They have experienced the demands of the business at different levels and understand that effective leadership requires sound judgement, accountability and an uncompromising commitment to safety,” Kassam said.
He added that the new managers would

be responsible for leading their teams and helping to prepare the next generation of Guyanese talent.
