The late Carol Trim-Bagot has been remembered as a committed public servant and grassroots political activist whose dedication to the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) and the people of Guyana left an enduring mark, particularly in New Amsterdam and Region Six.

Minister of Finance Dr. Ashni Singh delivered the feature address at a Night of Reflection in her honour describing Trim-Bagot as a woman driven by purpose and an unwavering desire to serve.

“Carol Trim was not content to be a bystander of life, but instead she was hungry to serve,” the minister said, recalling her active involvement in competitive politics and her commitment to helping the PPP/C fulfill its promises to the Guyanese people.

The minister said Trim-Bagot was not an armchair politician, but one who took her work directly to the communities, walking the streets of New Amsterdam to mobilise supporters, listen to residents and respond to their concerns.

“She walked the walk and walked the streets of New Amsterdam—mobilising, listening, caring, responding, supporting, engaging, and serving in every way imaginable,” the minister said.

Her commitment, he added, was rooted in her belief in standing on the side of what was right, good and virtuous, even when doing so was not the easiest option.

The tribute also extended condolences on behalf of President Dr Irfaan Ali, Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips, Vice President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo, the Cabinet, the Government and the wider PPP/C family.

Addressing her relatives, the minister acknowledged the sacrifices they made in sharing her time and commitment with the country.

“We could never compensate you for the time that you gave up so that she could serve our country, but I want to assure you that her work will long outlive her mortal presence,” the minister said.

While acknowledging that her passing leaves a void in Region Six and the wider political community, the minister said her example would continue to inspire others to carry forward the vision and work to which she dedicated her life.
