JAGS Aviation has added a brand-new Bell 407 helicopter to its fleet, a move the company says will boost air access for Guyana's tourism and mining sectors.

In a statement, the company said the acquisition forms part of continued investment in its aviation operations and is aimed at providing reliable air transportation between Georgetown and the interior.

The single-engine turbine helicopter can typically carry up to six passengers in addition to the pilot, depending on its interior and operating configuration. JAGS Aviation said this makes it suited to small-group charters, tourism excursions, corporate transfers and specialised aviation support.

For the mining sector, the aircraft will be used to move personnel and executives, facilitate site visits and reach remote locations. For tourism, it will support scenic excursions, private charters and travel to destinations where conventional transport is limited.

The company said the helicopter's cabin, visibility and turbine-powered performance would also improve the passenger experience for business and leisure travellers heading to the interior.

JAGS Aviation said it intends to keep strengthening its fleet and service offering as demand for air services grows with the economy, while maintaining its focus on operational standards, passenger comfort and safety.
