Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed will remain on bail after the prosecution failed to secure the revocation of his pre-trial release in the ongoing extradition proceedings.

The matter continued today at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where the prosecution argued that previous charges, including firearm and ammunition possession, discharging a firearm and offences under the Cybercrime Act, should be considered in determining whether he should remain free.

The court questioned whether the pattern of charges and alleged conduct while on bail warranted consideration.

However, the defence argued that pending charges and allegations, without convictions, were insufficient grounds for revocation under the Bail Act.

The magistrate ruled that past conduct and pending charges without convictions did not justify withdrawing bail. She noted, however, that any conviction during the extradition proceedings could influence a future application.

Meanwhile, scores gathered outside the courthouse, demanding Mohamed's release and the incarceration of key prosecution witness Prem Narine, who continued his testimony in the afternoon’s proceedings.
