Allottees at the Providence-Glasgow housing development, East Bank Berbice, could begin identifying their lots before the end of November, with surveying expected to start by mid-November.

Housing Minister Collin Croal said on Wednesday, during a visit to assess infrastructure works at the site in Region Six, that the Ministry is working to complete the necessary preparations within two weeks.

He said the development spans more than 650 acres, with about $9.3 billion being invested in infrastructure. Seventeen lots have been awarded to contractors, but three are behind schedule.

"So it therefore means 14 of those we can now, the survey department will proceed to start putting the polls," Croal said.

He said the works would address concerns from residents who have been waiting to see their allocated lands, adding that the Ministry is aware of questions from beneficiaries in Berbice about when they can access their lots.

"Persons who have been allocated here will be able to have access and be shown their lot before November month of end," he said, referring to the areas progressing as planned.

After surveying, the development is expected to receive additional services, including electricity and the drilling of wells in several areas across Berbice, similar to initiatives elsewhere in the country.
