Forty-seven-year-old Jeanita Kyte of Section ‘C’, Sophia, who is undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, will receive a new home under First Lady Arya Ali’s A Pink Promise initiative.

Ali turned the sod for the construction of the house as part of the programme, launched in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Kyte has been moving between relatives’ homes while battling the disease.

In a Facebook post, Ali said the initiative was intended to provide Kyte with the comfort and security of a place she could call her own.

“Breast Cancer Awareness Month must be about more than raising awareness. It must also inspire meaningful action that improves the lives of women affected by this disease,” she said.

Ali thanked Golden Shield Homes LLC, particularly Len and Marci Morris, for partnering with her office to make the project possible. She also acknowledged the Guyana Cancer Society for bringing Kyte’s circumstances to her attention.
