Thirty women entrepreneurs will showcase their products and services at the Pegasus Hotel Guyana this weekend, as the Women in Business Expo marks its tenth anniversary.
The exhibition runs today and tomorrow, October 24 and 25, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free.
Visitors can explore local businesses, shop for Christmas and watch fashion displays. The programme will also include Designers’ Quest auditions to select participants for an upcoming 30 Designers competition.
Beyond the exhibition, entrepreneurs will have access to business development sessions, including guidance on using artificial intelligence-powered search platforms to reach potential customers.
The session will be facilitated by Dr Anthony Q. Bowen, a professor at Grand Canyon University, who helped revamp organiser Sonia Noel’s website.
Bowen said the website makes information about Noel’s brand easier for AI-powered systems to identify and present to potential customers. He said the approach has already generated enquiries from Seattle and California, where Noel does not actively market her business.
“So that allows her to compete in countries that she doesn’t even have a presence,” he said.
Founded by Noel in 2016, the Expo provides a platform for women entrepreneurs to showcase their work, build connections and strengthen their businesses. This year’s event also forms part of celebrations marking Noel’s 30 years in fashion and entrepreneurship.
Noel said her goal is to help women build businesses that can survive and grow beyond the launch stage.
“I want women to not just launch businesses. I want them to stay in business,” she said.
Visitors can attend the Expo free of charge at Pegasus Hotel Guyana today and tomorrow.
