Registration has opened for the Clash of Champions circuit racing event, set for October 31 to November 1 at the South Dakota Circuit, with overseas entries expected.
The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) began registering competitors on Wednesday at its Thomaslands and Albert Street office. The event follows the club's hosting of the historic Berbice Drag Racing Invasion last weekend.
GMR&SC President Mohamed Shiraz Roshandin said registration is being done in person and online.
"We have begun registering our competitors for the Clash of Champions Circuit Race event. At the moment, we are doing it in person, and online," he said.
"We want to keep the momentum from the final half of the year we had coming off two successful events, both the opening round of the National Championships as well as the Berbice Invasion drag race event. Now we are moving into our marquee event," Roshandin added.
He said the club expects competitors from across the Caribbean, the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe.
"So far, we are about two weeks out and we have already confirmed participation from the Caribbean American Motorsports (CAMS) as well as several Caribbean countries for both the group four and three as well as some serious competition in group two," he said.
The event will bring together competitors across the circuit racing disciplines, with cars and motorcycles expected to headline a day of high-speed action at the Timehri-based venue.
Admission is $5,000 for adults and $2,000 for children. The event is supported by the Culture, Youth and Sport Ministry, One Guyana, ENet, KFC, GuyOil and Tropical Shipping, among other partners.
