ExxonMobil Guyana will begin maintenance work on a near-shore section of its offshore pipeline off Crane, West Coast Demerara, on October 14.
The activities are expected to continue until around December 1 and will address a finding identified during inspections earlier this year. The company said the work is being conducted in accordance with international standards to help ensure the pipeline's long-term integrity.
The pipeline is currently pressurised with inert gas (nitrogen) and is not yet in operation, so it poses no risk to the public or the environment, the company said.
ExxonMobil Guyana said it aims to complete the work before startup of Gas-to-Energy operations to minimise the potential for future maintenance interruptions.
The company is coordinating with relevant stakeholders. The Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) will issue a marine notice with information for mariners operating in the area.
