Berbice will become the centre of Guyana’s drag racing action this Sunday when the Berbice Drags Invasion 2026 takes place at the Rose Hall Canje Airstrip.
The event, organised by the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC), is scheduled to begin at 10:00 and will feature competition among performance and modified vehicles.
The event is expected to attract drivers and spectators from across the country, with ENet, Tropical Shipping, Castrol, GuyOil and KFC among the sponsors.
Ahead of race day, the GMR&SC will hold a mandatory competitors’ meeting on Wednesday at 18:00 at its office in Thomas Lands.
Registered competitors are expected to attend the meeting, where race procedures, safety requirements, classes, staging, regulations and other event-day arrangements will be discussed.
Driver registration closes on Thursday. The registration fee is $20,000, while entries submitted after the deadline will attract a $10,000 late fee, bringing the cost to $30,000.
Spectator admission is $3,000 for adults and $1,000 for children.
Fans will also have access to the J’s Supermarket VIP section, which offers unlimited food and drinks at a cost of $25,000.
The GMR&SC said drivers are encouraged to complete registration before the October 8 deadline as preparations continue for the event.
The Berbice Drags Invasion is expected to provide another showcase for Guyana’s growing performance and modified car scene.
The event will begin at 10:00 on Sunday at the Rose Hall Canje Airstrip. (GMR&SC)
