The Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning is continuing its worker empowerment and labour awareness seminars, with upcoming sessions planned for Georgetown, Region Three and Bartica.
The Ministry says it is also scheduling dates to conduct labour sensitisation outreaches in Region Nine and Linden between October and November 2026.
The nationwide campaign forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to promote compliance with labour laws and foster better workplace relations.
Recent Conditions of Employment Labour Seminars held in Upper Corentyne, New Amsterdam, East Canje and Anna Regina engaged 130 employers and representatives and reached approximately 2,074 employees.
The Ministry said that participants were provided with information on key areas including minimum wages, termination and severance, leave with pay, labour inspections, record keeping, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), overtime, probation, child labour and National Insurance Scheme (NIS) benefits.
Three additional labour laws sensitisation sessions were held on September 23 at the Iwokrama Mill Site, Fair View Village and Iwokrama River Lodge & Research Centre.
Through the continued engagements, the Ministry says it is strengthening public understanding of workers’ rights and responsibilities. It aims to equip workers and employers with greater knowledge of labour laws while encouraging safer, fairer and more compliant workplaces across Guyana.
