Aagman Restaurant has expanded its operations to Vreed-en-Hoop, Region Three, opening its second location.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Minister Susan Rodrigues joined the Meena family on Saturday for the official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In her feature address, Rodrigues said the expansion demonstrated the importance of local businesses investing in and positioning themselves to benefit from opportunities emerging across the tourism sector.

“Tourism must benefit people. Tourism must create livelihoods,” the Minister said, stressing that tourism growth should generate employment, skills development and business opportunities across the tourism value chain.

She noted that restaurants play an important role in the visitor experience while contributing to tourism circuits and broader economic activity.

Rodrigues highlighted the wider impact of such private-sector investment also support local suppliers and opportunities for people to build careers.

Aagman co-owner Neha Meena said the family’s decision to expand reflects its confidence in Guyana’s continued development, particularly in Region Three.

She also pointed to the country’s potential for wellness tourism, citing its forests, rivers and natural environment as assets that could attract visitors seeking wellness and nature-based experiences.

The new Vreed-en-Hoop location adds to the region’s growing dining and hospitality offerings and strengthens the link between tourism, culinary services and local business development.

Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud; High Commissioner of India to Guyana, H.E. Manoj Kumar; Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority, Kamrul Baksh; President of the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana, Mitra Ramkumar and President of the Region Three Chamber of Commerce, Bhabita Alberts were among the distinguished guests.
