Franklyn Brisport-Luke struck gold again on Thursday, adding a second title just days apart at the 2026 South American Powerlifting Championships (FESUPO 2026) and lifting Guyana's medal tally in the tournament to six.

Brisport-Luke, the only lifter on the team competing in both the equipped and classic segments, followed his gold-medal performance from the opening day's equipped competition with a stronger showing in the classic format at the Estadio Nacional.

He matched his equipped squat with a 125kg lift, improved his bench press to 77.5kg from 72.5kg, and pulled off a 157.5kg deadlift, 2.5kg up on his equipped mark, for a combined total of 360kg.

Nine lifters remain to compete, four on Friday and five on Saturday. Meanwhile, another Guyanese, Meshach Alexander, making his international debut, placed eighth in the 83kg junury division with a 212.5kg squat, 117.5kg bench press and 245kg deadlift for a total of 575kg, gaining experience that will serve him well going forward.

Guyana's medal tally stands at three gold, two silver and one bronze, for a total of six.
