Some 496 persons allocated residential lots at Great Diamond Block 7, East Bank Demerara, have begun identifying their lots, following delays caused by the poor performance of some contractors.

The lot identification exercise, held on Wednesday, covered Parcels 5077–5094, 5171–5188 and 5231–5308, marking a key step forward for families who have been waiting to access their allocations.

Housing Minister Collin Croal was on the ground for the exercise, interacting with allottees and observing the process.
The Ministry of Housing and CH&PA had been forced to terminate the services of some contractors who failed to meet their contractual obligations, delaying the completion of infrastructure works at the site.

Croal thanked allottees for their patience during the delays and reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to completing the remaining works so beneficiaries can proceed with constructing their homes.

Persons allocated lots within Parcels 5094–5170 will be able to identify their lots soon, once surveyors complete land-levelling works in that section.
Given the ongoing infrastructure works, the lot identification exercise is being conducted in phases as sections become ready.

Several beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the progress and excitement about moving forward with their homeownership plans.
The exercise was facilitated by the Surveys Unit of the Ministry of Housing and CH&PA, which will continue the exercise for the remaining allottees as works progress.
