Racquel Olivia Chandni Seecharran, a Guyanese national, was found unconscious in a room at a transit hotel at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru, India, on Wednesday and was later declared dead at a city hospital.

Seecharran had arrived from London on a Virgin Atlantic flight at around 6.10pm on Tuesday and was scheduled to travel onward to Mangaluru on an IndiGo flight at 2.35pm on Wednesday.

According to the Central Industrial Security Force, which guards KIA, hotel receptionists tried contacting Seecharran by phone at around 10.30am as her scheduled check-out time approached, but she did not answer or respond.

Hotel staff subsequently went to her room at the Transit/Day Hotel in the arrival city-side area of Terminal 2 and found her lying unconscious. The airport medical team rushed to the room and provided medical assistance before she was transported by ambulance to a nearby private hospital.

At around 12.22pm, the attending doctor examined Seecharran and conducted an ECG. No pulse was detected, and she was declared dead at around 1.08pm.

The incident was reported to local police, who are carrying out medico-legal formalities and further inquiry. The circumstances surrounding her death are yet to be established. (The Hindu)
