Forty young cricketers from three teams will battle for spots on Demerara’s Under-13 squad when the Demerara Cricket Board’s 2026 Under-13 Tournament bowls off Wednesday at the LBI Cricket Ground.
The DCB Hawks, DCB Falcons and DCB Crows will compete, giving players meaningful match experience while allowing coaches and selectors to assess their technical development, temperament, discipline and understanding of the game.
According to a release, selectors will use the tournament to pick the Demerara Under-13 squad for the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Inter-County Under-13 Tournament, part of the DCB’s development pathway preparing players for progression into the Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 levels.
All matches will begin at 10am at the LBI Cricket Ground.
The DCB Falcons, coached by Kevin Ross, are captained by Elijah Mohamed with Rites Deonarine as vice-captain. The DCB Hawks, coached by Latchman Yadram, are captained by Caleb Bastian with Nateniel Narain as vice-captain.
The DCB Crows, coached by Kumar Bishundial and Y. Khemraj, are captained by Sanjay Suman with Huzaifah Shadir as vice-captain.
Fixtures begin August 12 with Hawks facing Falcons, followed by Crows against Hawks on August 13 and Falcons against Crows on August 15. DCB Select 1 will meet DCB Select 2 on August 16, with players assessed for selection to the two Select teams after the preliminary matches.
The DCB encouraged parents, clubs and cricket supporters to attend and support the development of Demerara’s young cricketers.
